Behind the Design: Cherry Blossom Collection

During our Homebrew rebroadcast of Capcom Cup XI, we debuted a number of new officially licensed Street Fighter designs which included a Cherry Blossom themed collection. With Capcom Cup XI taking place in Tokyo during March, Sakura season was upon us and our design team worked on a capsule drop of items that tapped in to this beautiful imagery. Let’s take a look at them in some more detail…

First up, we turned to the ‘Genbu Temple’ stage of Street Fighter 6 to follow up our incredibly popular Street Fighter 3: Third Strike ‘Jazzy NYC’ stage deskmat. The official Street Fighter 6 stage render is printed in full HD on a high quality, 3mm thick mat with stitched-finish edges for durability and comfort. This was an obvious choice for a Cherry Blossom-themed collection given the prominent placing of the trees in the stage. Just as some fighters visit the temple to seek a place for meditation, we hope this piece brings you mindfulness and peace of mind whilst you are at your desk. Limited quantities are ready for immediate dispatch now.

Continuing Ryu’s search for inner calm, we next utilized one of the pieces of key artwork shown in the design process of his new look in Street Fighter 6 for our ‘Ryu Cherry Blossom’ t-shirt. Relaxing on a bench, Ryu shares his food with a Shiba Inu, surrounded by falling cherry blossom petals while the crescent moon shines overhead. These elements call back to Ryu’s Costume 3 and are featured on his sukajan jacket which you may have seen during the young star Blaz's pick during his epic Capcom Cup XI run to 2nd place!

We're throwing it back to the earliest years of Street Fighting with this monochrome ’Cherry Blossom Turbo’ t-shirt design. This piece features key art of Cammy and Chun Li drawn by Kinu Nishimura and originally released alongside Super Street Fighter II Turbo, but with a cherry blossom flair. The iconic artwork and monochromatic pink color make this a striking design that will look great even if you've never put quarters down in an arcade before.
